Mount Maunganui has been known for decades as the North Island summer playground thanks to the great surf and the long sandy beach.
With so much water all around, it will be no surprise that there are many great water activities to choose from. You can go swimming, surfing, kayaking, canoeing, boating, fishing or diving.
There are some great tour operators who know all the best spots in the area and can take you out on some fabulous trips. There are information brochures available at our Holiday Park office or we can advice you in person to find and book a trip that suits you best.
The Bay of Plenty has many more gorgeous spots for you to visit if you’d like to relax by the ocean. Papamoa Beach is also very nice and a lot less busy than the Mount.
Another stunning beach can be found at Ohope, just past Whakatane. It will take you about an hour to get to. If you head the other way you’ll get to Waihi Beach within half an hour. Both beaches and the surrounding area are well worth the drive.
